Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

Fairytale Genie is made for families, and we want every family — including parents and children who use assistive technologies — to be able to create and enjoy their stories. We are committed to improving the accessibility of our website (fairytalegenie.com) and our iOS and Android apps on an ongoing basis.

Conformance Status

Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Our website and apps are currently partially conformant: some parts of the service do not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA, and we have not yet completed a formal accessibility audit. We do not claim conformance at this time. This statement is based on an internal self-assessment carried out in August 2026.

What Works Today

• Text is sized in relative units on most screens, so it scales with your browser or device font-size settings.
• Form fields — including sign-in, verification-code, and story-creation fields — have labels for screen readers.
• Story illustrations carry page-specific text alternatives drawn from the story text of each page.
• Progress updates while a story is being created, and status and error messages, are announced to screen readers.
• Decorative animations (such as twinkling stars) respect the system "reduce motion" preference on the website and in the mobile app.
• Visible focus indicators are provided on the website and in the mobile app, and a "skip to main content" link is available on web pages.
• The story library and character-profile cards can be operated with a keyboard.
• Dialogs, alerts, and carousels use assistive-technology roles and labels on key controls.
• Buttons and touch targets in the mobile app meet minimum size guidelines.

Known Limitations

We believe in being transparent about where we fall short today. Known limitations include:

• Image descriptions: the text alternative for each illustration is drawn from the story text on that page rather than a description of the picture itself. We are exploring true per-image descriptions for screen-reader users.
• Keyboard navigation: a small number of interactive cards in the mobile app are not yet reachable by keyboard.
• Color contrast: we have corrected known low-contrast text, but have not yet completed a comprehensive contrast review.
• Assistive-technology testing: we have not yet completed systematic testing with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

What We Are Working On

We are prioritizing the limitations listed above, adding automated accessibility checks to our development process, and reviewing new features for accessibility before release. We will update this statement as improvements ship.

Compatibility

The service is designed to work with recent versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and with the built-in accessibility features of iOS and Android. We have not yet completed testing with all assistive technologies, and some combinations may not work as intended.

Enforcement

If you are in the European Union and are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may contact the authority responsible for enforcing accessibility requirements in your country.

This statement is reviewed at least once a year, and whenever we make significant changes to the service.
